Monday Food For Thought

Good day beauties! We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day so how about some words of wisdom to fuel your Monday morning. Here we go:
The world cares very little about what a man or woman knows; it is what a man or woman is able to do that counts. ~ Booker T. Washington

Rosemary Hair Oil

So lately, I've been experiencing more with natural and organic products just like everyone else it seems. I purchased the Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil about a month ago at Target as a conditiong treatment for my hair. I just put a few drops on my fingertips and massage the oil through my scalp. The oil has a nice light fragrance and the oil is not very heavy. It can also be used as an intensive deep condition treatment prior to shampoo. I've read that rosemary has some great benefits for hair so it was worth me purchasing. Do you incorporate essential oils in your hair care regimen? Which oils are your favorites? Do tell!

Fuel Your Beauty - Green Goodness Smoothie

Hello Beauties - It's been a week since the last post so here goes a little something to fuel your mind, body, and soul, called Green Goodness. It's a great smoothie packed with lots of great ingredients like: wheat grass, spirulina, spinach, and blue green algae. Sounds YUMMY right? Well, it really is. When I first poured my first cup, my eyes did not like the green goop they saw. But, when I took a sip, I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoy the flavor and tastes. If you're looking for a healthy beverage that's packed with vitamins, greens, and more than you should try this drink. You won't be disappointed. I've also had their 100% Carrot Juice but so far the Green Goodness is my favorite. Have you tried any Bolthouse Beverages? Which is your favorite?

Michelle Obama Wears Shorts - so what?

So, apparently there's some controversy regarding The First Lady wearing shorts while vacationing at the Grand Canyon. Why is it a big deal? Why is it NOT appropriate for her to wear shorts in 106 degree weather in August at the Grand Canyon while she is on VACATION! What say YOU about this? Check out this video.

Monday's Food for Thought

"Every morning you are handed 24 golden hours. They are one of the few things in this world that you get free of charge. If you had all the money in the world, you couldn't buy an extra hour. What will you do with this priceless treasure? "

BXCG Wishlist: Ojon Restorative Treatment

I have an obsession with hair products, especially shampoos and deep conditioners. I've wanted to try Ojon's Restorative Hair Treatment for some time now. But, it is so super duper expensive that I've put it on my wish list. I've read so many great reviews about it though, so I'm itching to try it. It's main ingredient is Ojon, a rare palm nut oil from Central America that is uber hydrating. What are your thoughts on this hair treatment...does it live up to all the hype?

Good Hair by Chris Rock

Funny man, Chris Rock has a new documentary that explores "black hair" in the black community and the impact it has on self-esteem, relationships, etc.

This will definitely be an eye opener for many especially in this day in age when the perception of beauty is so skewed.

Balmain Ankle Fringe Flat by Giuseppe Zanotti

I'm really loving these flats that Rihanna is wearing in this picture. They are suede - and the ankle wrap has fringe on them. So I did some research and these beauties cost a pretty penny - $525.00 to be exact. Take a look here for more views of this shoe. By the way they are Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain - two names that I cannot afford. *sigh*

TBXC Must Have: Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil is one of my favorite skin care and hair care products. I use it to massage my scalp and apply to my hair. The benefit of doing this is to moisturize my hair and scalp which to tend to be very dry. I also use it on my elbows, knees, and feet - those areas that need extra moisture. Have you used jojoba oil? If so, how do you use it?

Automatic Tweezer by Tweezerman

How many of you like a nicely shaped brow? I definitely do, especially for someone like me that has thick, long eyebrows. But, for some reason every time I have them waxed, the eyebrow lady wants to make them super thin. I don't do thin eyebrows. So, I constantly have to reiterate and gesture that I want a nice arch. But, no more of that hassle for me. Why? Because I tweezed my own eyebrows the other day all by myself and they look AWESOME. If I do say so my self. Take a look at the tweezer I bought.

When I first saw it, I though okay what kind of contraption is this but it's actually pretty nifty. It's called the Automatic Tweezer aka "the painless plucker" by Tweezerman. I bought it for $5.99 at TJMAXX. I wish I had a before and after of my eyebrows, but I don't- so just imagine a pair of horrid-looking eyebrows, bushy, etc and then picture a nicely arched eyebrow like this

Yep, that's pretty much the result I got. The automatic tweezer is pretty simple to use - just tweeze in the direction of hair growth. As for as it being painless, eh I mean you do feel the little pricks as you pull the hair but it's minimal. I'm glad I bought it, so I will definitely be doing my own eyebrows from now on. By the way, I also purchased the brow shaping scissors & brush too.

BXCG Must Have: Thermist by Ellin Lavar

There are a lot of ladies out there like myself that occasionally flat iron their hair. If you do, this is a product that you must have at arm's reach when doing so, it's Ellin Lavar's Thermist. It will protect your hair when using any heat styling tool, like flat irons, curling irons, or blow dryers. This product really does everything it claims it should. It always leaves my hair with volume, shiny, and protected. The funny thing is I've had this product for a long time (like a lot of products I have). Anyway, thought I'd share this info with you ladies. Hopefully once I have a camera I'll be able to post some pics of the after results. In the meantime, you'll just have to trust me. ;0)
